About AVAR
AVAR (Association of anti Virus Asia Researchers) was formed in June, 1998.
The mission of the AVAR is to prevent the spread and damage caused by computer virus, and to develop cooperative relationship among anti-virus researchers in Asia.
We are independent and not-for-profit organization which is oriented in Asia Pacific region. AVAR consists of prominent experts on computer virus from various countries such as Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and U.S.A. Our independence helps us to play an important role to fight against computer virus globally and to raise users' awareness on computer security issues.
The organization has a constitution and the code of conduct, and is committed to improving members' knowledge and skills.
Mission
Our activities include:
- Organizing and hosting AVAR annual conference and seminar on anti virus issues
- Providing information on computer virus incidents through Asia on AVAR website
- Operating AVAR members' mailing list to exchange information and opinions among members.
We are also planning to do the following:
- Issue AVAR electric newsletter on security information
- Conducting evaluation test for anti virus products
- Provide certificates to anti virus products as well as to technical people for their knowledge and skills on computer virus prevention
- Improve communication and cooperation with other international anti virus organizations

Becoming a member
There are 3 kinds of AVAR membership: AVAR Individual membership, AVAR corporate membership, and AVAR Subscriber (individual).
1) AVAR Membership (Individual) : JP\13,000/year
Benefits:
(a) subscription to AVAR member mailing list
(b) Advanced notice and Discount on AVAR conference and seminar.
(c) voting right at AVAR annual meeting,
2) AVAR Membership (Corporate) : JP\60,000/year
Benefits: same as (1)
* You can register up to 6 members per organization.
NOTE:For AVAR membership (both individual and corporate), a new member (candidate) will be recommended by current AVAR members and be approved by AVAR Board of Directors. If you wish to become AVAR member, please fill out this application form, print it out, and send it to AVAR administration office via FAX (+81)-54-283-5328. Also, please send your brief profile to AVAR administration office via email.
